No More {Wisdom} for Me

No more wisdom for me... Teeth that is!!! If you have been wondering about my {lack of} updates, I have been recovering from the removal of all {four} of my wisdom teeth at once... Not wise!!! Yea, tell me about it!

With the March winds roaring and the kites soaring, I feel running in a wide open field with my hair blowing in the wind without a care in the world... But I decided to {wise} up and therefore I sit here in front of my computer catching breeze or two before catching some {zzzzzzzzzzzzz} from all the meds.

It's been a few days since I decided to wise up, but my face is still a little swollen.... I know... I still look really, really, really ROUGH! Any suggestions on how to make the swelling subside? {please excuse the deer in the head-lights-look}

Showers with {Joy}: The $100 Bridal Shower Challenge

This weekend we had a shower for my friend whose middle name is {Joy}. We had a blast!!! This post will be very picture heavy because I have a ton of DYI projects to share!!! But before we begin, I want to let you all in on a little {secret}. I challenged myself to do this entire shower decor and door prizes for less than $100. The end result.... Well, you will see in just a momento!

First off the door prizes.... While shopping at Burkes Outlet on the clearance rack; I came across these leather card holders which were marked down to 95% off the clearance price and with an extra 15% off with my Friday Club Card.... My grand total was 15 cents!!! Yes, that's right I paid $0.15!!!!!!!!

Although the wallet was genuine leather with an unbeatable price; it still left much to be desired... So what did I do? I saw an opportunity to release some scrapbooking mojo. And with a little inspiration from my dear friends at ScrapbookScrapbook; this beauty was created! The final price for these with embellishments was only 45 cents!

Next.... the wishing tree {which I have done once before} and the poem. For this I drew some inspiration from several of the weddingbee bloggers. The total cost for this tree was around $5.00. Here is a shot of the wishing tree, tags, and poem.

Following the wishing tree are the table centerpieces. May I insert a little background info here? Thanks... I knew that you would understand. {BS: I have been {in love} with the crystal trees since I began to assist my friend with the planning of her wedding. However, the cost of them; they were quickly removed from the bride's wish list... But me on the other hand, once I am in love.... I am 100% there!!! And I did not want to suffer from a broken heart... So what did I do???} I found a subsitute and it only cost a small fraction of the price..... These trees made their debut at the shower for a whopping $5.00!

The entire set up {tree, crystals, vase, flowers, etc.) only cost $8.50 each! How do you like it?

Here are the close-ups of the votives.... I got these are the Dollar Tree for a $1.00 each!

Next up are Tiffany boxes.... Simple and classic.... Cost $3.50 each!

And one shot upclose...

Candy Buffet..... (including candy)...........$25.00..... Cracker Barrell is a hidden treasure!!!

Gift bags.... The card reads.... Love is, above all, the gift of oneself. --Jean Anouilh
Finally, the punch bowl decor...Southern Lady style... Final Cost....$3.00! I made some slammin' Tiffany Blue punch, but I took this photo before the tables were set! And it was actually very, very close to {Tiffany Blue}:(!

My grand total..................................................................
$105.00

I exceeded my budget by $5.oo!!! It was those darn $4.50 cookie and creme Hershey Kisses that sent me over the top, LOL! However, I think that I did fairly well pulling off a platinum inspired shower on a copper budget! LOL!

Let me know what you think! I am anxious to hear your comments!

Showered with Tiffany's: Part IV

The candy bar....
My friend is not having one at her wedding so I am seriously considering having one her bridal shower and having it double as favors for the guests.

Here is a little inspiration for the candy bar...
Clean, fresh and simple...
I also like the idea of mixing a tad bit of yellow to make the colors pop!
And a little tiffany blue...

If this idea passes, I plan on purchasing most of the candy at our local Cracker Barrell...

Any thoughts on this? BTW, can anyone tell me how to make an inspiration board?

Showered with Tiffany's: Part III

Let the games begin!

What is a shower without games... Right? {now pass your gift to the right} LOL! Just kidding, but you get my drift... I am tired of all the {Left} {Right}, toilet paper and all the other {overdone} bridal shower games... I am looking for somthing creative, unique, fresh and fun. When I get the opportunity {and time is on my side} I am going to create bridal shower games that meet the above criteria and share them with all of you. But until then, I will have to rely on the www and you, my blogging buddies.

Here is a list of what I have so far and the descriptions. Please advise on what I should keep and what should lend to File 13....

**** The mini-cake decoration contest.

**** The Newly Wed game {sort of}

**** Pass Me the Teddy

**** Bridal Shower Mad Libs

Do you have any fun bridal shower games that you would like to share?

Showered with Tiffany's: Part II

As I surfed the www a little more, I struck gold!!! Not really, but I came across a website {http://albums.phanfare.com/5288177/2008/} that made my vision for this Tiffany shower P-L-A-I-N! You wanna see?

I can still use my tree...

This kinda reminds me of a tea... but what the heck? The jewelry sure does inspire me...

This kinda goes along with my idea of spray painting the trees silver. Maybe I should use {bling} instead of paper!

I like this, but it is kinds overdone for what I am looking to do... It sure is inspiring though!

I am sold!!! I really want to do this!!!

Quick: I need any/all your ideas on how I can make this come together by Saturday....

Thanks ahead of time!

Showered with Tiffany's: Part I

This weekend my best friend has her first bridal shower and I am so excited! Her fiances mother is hosting this one and she has asked me to do the decor and games. Yay! So, I guess today we will start with the inspiration for the decor and tomorrow we will cover the games.

I have searched the {www} high and low for looking for inspiration for the shower. I came across a post on weddingbee by Miss Springroll and I immediately knew that it was perfect for the shower! So without further adieu I present to you this beautiful paper flower centerpiece via Jen Elisebeth. I will paint the stems silver and use tiffany blue paper to create the paper flowers!

The first runner up goes to these beautiful tiffany blue box centerpieces as seen here:

Now that I have settled on these two wonderful ideas for centerpieces... I have a bit of a dilemma... The mother has asked me to decorate for both the rehearsal dinner as well as the shower. Which centerpiece should I use at each event? How can I incorporate this bling?

Straight to the Point!

I have a good blogger friend by the name of Adrienne who does random ramblings on her blog. You can check her out at http://adrienneslittleworld.typepad.com/. Well, anyway... I think that I am going to borrow that format today... Except I think that I will dub my {ramblings} as {straight to the point}. So, let's begin my recap since last Friday... shall we?
  • The conference was wonderful... I had a blast with Preashea, Brittany, and Nova! And the word was (right on time).
  • I enjoyed my family this weekend.... I was really sad when they left!
  • My mother is a {true} jewel. Before she left she cooked collard greens, deviled eggs, fried chicken, corn bread, black eye peas and sweet potato pies. {They don't make 'em quite like that anymore}.
  • After my family left on Sunday, I slept like a baby!
  • I have not scrapbooked in over almost three weeks... I am suffering from withdrawals!
  • I have all the elements to redecorate room... just not the energy.
  • I need a new car... Badly!!!
  • Have you heard Robin Thicke's The Sweetest Love? Love It!!!
  • Rhianna is a (darn) fool!
  • I feel bad for the football players {and the mystery man} lost at sea... I will not go on a cruise or deep sea fishing...
  • T.O. got cut??!!!??? Man, it is the recession!
  • I have some free time this weekend.... but I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do!

Have a great weekend!
